The Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Uzbekistan Aziz Voitov met with the Chief Economist of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) Máximo Torero Cullen, in Berlin.

The parties discussed economic policy measures to increase the sustainability of the agricultural sector. The meeting was held as part of Green Week 2023.

“We highly appreciate FAO’s assistance in such areas as rational land use, food security, development of value chains, increasing the knowledge of farms, standardization and gender equality”, Aziz Voitov said.

The parties also considered the reforms of agriculture in Uzbekistan and the improvement of the institutional architecture of sector management by the state, as well as the study of new financial instruments such as lending, leasing, insurance, and subsidies in agriculture.
