Deputy Chairman of the Central Election Commission Bakhrom Kuchkarov met with the Deputy Chairman of the Central Election Commission of the Republic of Latvia Sigords Stradiņš.

Amendments and additions to the Constitution and the Election Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan on further democratization and liberalization of the electoral process were emphasized at the meeting.

Bakhrom Kuchkarov noted that Uzbekistan is visited by observers from many foreign countries and international organizations, as well as media representatives. All conditions have been created so that they could accurately and promptly cover the democratic process, and observers could freely visit polling stations.

Mr. Sigords Stradiņš noted the importance of political and economic relations between the two countries, and also emphasized that the visit would be an opportunity to exchange experience on electoral legislation and practice.
