On August 16, 2018, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan hosted a meeting with the United States delegation led by Assistant U.S. Trade Representative for South and Central Asian Affairs Mark Linscott.

On August 16, 2018, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan hosted a meeting with the United States delegation led by Assistant U.S. Trade Representative for South and Central Asian Affairs Mark Linscott.

Issues of implementing investment and trade agreements worth 4.8 billion US dollars, achieved following the official visit of the President of Uzbekistan to the United States in May 2018, as well as cooperation development prospects in this direction were discussed at the meeting.

The parties noted that in the first quarter of 2018 the USA became the main investor in Uzbekistan’s economy. The U.S share amounted 28%.

The importance of initiative of American side to hold “US Business Week in Uzbekistan” in October 2018 was also noted at the meeting.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, representatives of the two countries also exchanged views on proposals to update the legal base for bilateral cooperation between Uzbekistan and the United States.

Other issues of mutual interest were also considered at the meeting.
