In the city of Cholpon-Ata, as part of a regional meeting of the leaders of Fergana region of Uzbekistan, the Batken region of Kyrgyzstan, and the Sughd region of Tajikistan, a dialogue was held with the Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers – Head of the Presidential Administration of the Kyrgyz Republic Akylbek Japarov.
At the meeting, issues of developing cooperation in trade, economic, investment, and social spheres, increasing trade turnover, expanding the range of products, and implementing new investment projects between bordering regions were discussed.
An exchange of views took place on the progress of the joint work scheduled in March this year during the visit of a delegation led by Akylbek Japarov to Fergana region.
Within the framework of the event, meetings were held in a narrow format of delegations led by the leaders of Fergana and Batken, as well as the Fergana and Sughd regions.
The main topic of the meeting of delegations led by the Hokim of Fergana region Khayrulla Bozorov and the Governor of Batken region Abdikarim Alimbayev was the further expansion of partnership in trade and economic sphere and the implementation of joint investment projects. An agreement was reached to start implementation of eight joint projects worth $13.5 million in August this year.
The existing border issues in Fergana and Batken regions were discussed, as a result of which an agreement was reached on their joint solution. The hokims of the border districts of the two regions also took part in the negotiations.
As part of the regional meeting, a decision was made to develop an action plan based on the agreements reached and approve it within a week.
