Chairman of the Customs Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan Akmalkhuja Mavlonov, as part of his visit to the Republic of Tajikistan, took part in the 77th meeting of the Council of Heads of Customs Services of the Member States of the Commonwealth of Independent States, in Dushanbe.
The heads of customs services of Armenia, Belarus, Azerbaijan, Russia, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Kazakhstan also attended the meeting.
In accordance with the agenda of the Council meeting, drafts of several vital agreements and treaties were discussed in detail. In particular, the need was emphasized to accelerate the process of signing an agreement between the customs services of the CIS member states on the procedure for affixing seals and stamps of customs authorities by their customs authorities on transport and commercial documents, introduced at the initiative of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
The parties also discussed the issue of creating a Center for Expertise and Research of Customs Services of the Member States of the Commonwealth of Independent States, necessary to achieve specific customs goals.
In this regard, the Uzbekistan delegation proposed to study the experience of the Central Customs Laboratory of the Customs Committee with the status of a regional customs laboratory of the World Customs Organization.
At the meeting, issues such as the introduction of various educational and professional programs in personnel training, the use of navigation seals in tracking transportation, regulation of the import of goods by individuals in parts, and the achievement of a unified approach to reflecting the gross weight of goods in customs declarations were discussed.
Several issues related to simplifying transit transportation, preventing emergencies at border customs posts, and eliminating their consequences were discussed in detail.
The Council’s next meeting will take place in Uzbekistan in the first half of 2024.
