The Extraordinary General Assembly of the International Automobile Federation (Federation Internationale de l'Automobile – FIA), dedicated to its 120th anniversary, is being held at the International Tourist Center “Great Silk Road” in Samarkand.

More than 500 high-ranking guests from 147 countries, including delegates from auto and motor clubs, federations, and associations, are attending the meeting.

As the Department Head at the Administration of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Odil Abdurakhmonov and the FIA President Mohammed Ahmad Ben Sulayem noted, the exchange of experience during this conference is of particular importance for the further popularization of motorsport, which is developing globally.

Prospects for cooperation and proposals for motorsport development were discussed at the meeting between Uzbekistan representatives and FIA officials.

It was noted that special attention is paid to motorsport development in the process of reforms to popularize sports in the country. In particular, special grounds and tracks for motorsports are being created in the Olympic Village, which is being built in Tashkent. FIA specialists are helping to adapt them to world standards.

After creating sufficient infrastructure, it was also proposed to organize international competitions, the “Silk Road Cup”, with the participation of motorsportsmen from the countries of the Great Silk Road.
