Several important meetings took place in Riyadh within the framework of the 16th Session of the Conference of the Parties (COP16) of the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification.

At the meeting, Deputy Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Uzbekistan Alisher Shukurov, with representatives of the FAO Representative Office in Uzbekistan and Vice President for Operations of the Islamic Development Bank Anasse Aissami discussed prospects for cooperation in finding solutions to global problems, in particular, issues of agricultural mechanization, strengthening measures to combat climate change and promoting research towards sustainable agriculture.

The conference will run until December 13. The event focuses on restoring degraded lands by 2030, increasing resistance to drought and dust storms, and food security. The issues of biodiversity conservation, the creation of new opportunities, and decent jobs for young people in the direction of land use are being considered.
