Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shukhrat Polvonov met with the head of the headquarters of the CIS Executive Committee Mission Yevgeny Kozyak and a member of the Staff Marina Afonina.
At the meeting, the guests were informed about the reforms carried out in the judicial-legal system of Uzbekistan.

In particular, the parties discussed measures to strengthen the legislative framework of the sphere, improve the judicial system’s structure and efficiency, and ensure the courts’ transparency and openness.
It was noted that the primary purpose of the ongoing reforms is to ensure the independence of the courts, reliable protection of citizens’ rights and freedoms, and increase the achievement of justice.

Information was also provided on the country’s electoral legislation. The guests were particularly interested in the procedure provided by the Election Code for reviewing complaints against election commission decisions.
It was noted that the legislation defines administrative responsibility for offenses in the organization and conduct of elections, criminal liability for violating legislative documents on the organization and conduct of elections, obstruction of electoral law, or exercising the powers of trusted representatives.
The parties also exchanged views on other issues.
