Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan Furkat Sidikov met with the Deputy Minister of International Cooperation of Egypt Sherihan Bakheet, in Cairo, Uzbekistan MFA reports.

During the talks, it was noted that the effective work of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission between Uzbekistan and Egypt plays an important role in the development of relations in the trade-economic and investment spheres.

The parties confirmed their interest in holding the 7th meeting of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission in Tashkent in the second half of 2022 to activate economic ties, and raise trade to a qualitatively new level that meets the potential and capabilities of both countries.

The possibility of creating a working group and signing a cooperation agreement between the Ministries of transport of the two countries to reduce the logistics costs of foreign trade cargo and optimize routes was also considered at the meeting.

According to the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Cairo, the parties also expressed interest in implementing joint projects for the production of pharmaceutical products, building materials, textiles and the development of tourism infrastructure.
