The “Kitob olami (book world)” complex has started working in the town of Bukhara.

An event has been held by the Bukhara Regional hokimiyat (governorate) in cooperation with the Uzbekistan press and information agency. It was attended by representatives of state and public organizations, creative workers, publishers, young people and workers of mass media.

In the harmonious development of people and in the satisfaction of their moral requirements, books, especially literary works, have a big role. Therefore, in this country, special attention is being paid to increasing people’s interest, especially young people’s interest in books and raising their book-reading culture.

A Presidential decree dated 12 January 2017 “On establishing a commission for the popularization of reading and the raising of book-reading culture and for the development of the system of publishing and distributing books” is an important programme document in this sphere.

At the “Kitob olami”, the sale of socio-political, scientific-popular and literary books and textbooks printed in this country has been initiated. Here a range of additional conveniences have been created for book lovers.

“We get books directly from 118 publishing enterprises in our country on the basis of agreements. This serves to satisfy requirements of book lovers in a timely fashion,” says Ezoz Bobomurodov, the manager of the Bukhoro Kitob Olami LLC.

As a result of the implementation of this book sale project, 15 new jobs were created. By the end of this year, two cinema halls are to be put into use at the complex, and 30 more new jobs are to be created thanks to the expansion of the scope of the service.

The hokim (governor) of Bukhara Region, O.Barnoyev, made a speech at the event.
