As previously reported, on the initiative of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, the 150th anniversary Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) will be held next year in Uzbekistan.
An agreement to hold the 150th anniversary Assembly of the IPU in Uzbekistan in 2025 was signed in Geneva, Switzerland.
IPU Secretary General Martin Chungong, speaking about the anniversary event, noted that its main theme will be determined based on the priorities and proposals of the Uzbek side. This was announced at a meeting with the Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan Tanzila Narbayeva.
The parties discussed organizational aspects of preparation for the Assembly and holding events within its framework. Particular attention was paid to further enhancing Uzbekistan’s partnership with the IPU.
During the dialogue, it was noted that a particular parliamentary segment is included in the program of the Asian Women’s Forum, which will be held in Samarkand in May this year, and hope was expressed for the support of the IPU in its successful implementation.
