Marco Di Liddo: Uzbekistan is on the right path to economic development and achieving sustainable production processes while respecting the ecosystem
09:22 / 2023-07-17

Director of the Center for International Studies (CeSI) Marco Di Liddo shared his comments on the address of the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev at the inauguration ceremony held on July 14 in Tashkent.

– In his inaugural speech, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev promised to continue the path of large-scale political and economic reforms already implemented in recent years.

The April 30 Constitutional Referendum and the outcome of the Presidential Election are part of a scenario in which Europe and Italy are rediscovering the Central Asian country.

This is also evidenced by the Joint Statement, in which in June this year, the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and the Prime Minister of Italy Giorgia Meloni raised bilateral relations between our countries to the level of Strategic Partnership.

Until a few years ago in Italy, we had a vague idea about this region, and it is time to rethink our relationship with it. Today, Uzbekistan and Central Asia are key economic and cultural bridges between Europe and Asia.

Stability in Uzbekistan is important to us, as a global strategy to combat terrorism cannot be conceived at the level of individual states, but only as part of a broader global action to combat this phenomenon.
