19:30 / 2023-02-14

Unique personality, the world-famous great poet, scientist-encyclopedist, statesman, and talented commander Zahiriddin Muhammad Babur’s birth is widely celebrated every year on February 14.

The rich scientific and creative legacy of the great Shah and poet – our ancestor is essential not only for our national culture, the formation of the literary and aesthetic thinking of the people, but also for the history of world literature, science and statehood.

Indian experts interpret the time of Babur’s reign in different ways, however, they recognize the huge contribution of his dynasty to the development of Uzbekistan. During this period, many large gardens were created in Agra and Delhi, ditches were dug, mosques and schools were built. Material values related to Babur and the Baburids, copies of works and manuscripts are widely distributed worldwide. There are also many such historical sources in India. The 1528 manuscript “Devoni Babur” and a copy of the miniature from 1640 “Wedding of Prince Doro Shukuh” are among them. Copies of these unique works were brought with the help of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan.

The spiritual and enlightenment community between the Uzbek and Indian peoples is reflected in the buildings built by great ancestors. In particular, the mausoleum of Humayun, the Red Fortress, the Old Fortress in Delhi, and the Taj Mahal, the mausoleum of Akbarshah in Agra testify to the common history, cultural traditions of India and Uzbekistan. The invaluable scientific, spiritual and cultural legacy of Zahiriddin Muhammad Babur and his descendants awakens a sense of pride in our hearts, enhances the feeling of love for the Motherland.

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of India to Uzbekistan Manish Prabhat in his interview on the occasion of the 540th anniversary of Zahiriddin Muhammad Babur’s birth notes:

– On the occasion of the 540th anniversary of the ruler and poet Zahiriddin Muhammad Babur’s birth, I would like to dwell on the personality of a world-famous statesman, – the Ambassador says. – After the conquest of India, he founded a great empire in the country, then expanded its borders. Huge transformations have taken place in the north of the country. This historical process of development, originating in the 16th century, completely changed the country.

During the reign of the Baburids, large-scale activity was carried out not only from a historical point of view, but also from the point of view of strengthening political stability. For example, Akbarshah paid great attention to culture, philosophy and religion, the development of all sectors. The Baburid dynasty consistently continued to work in public administration and other areas.

Babur is a historical figure, a skilled commander. There are numerous facts about this. Our ancestor plays the role of a solid bridge in strengthening ties between India and Uzbekistan, further developing bilateral ties.

Last year I participated in a conference organized by the Babur Foundation. We visited the garden mentioned in “Baburname”. The historical monuments stored in the museum, the created works reflect his inner spiritual experiences, love and longing for the Motherland.

In conclusion, I would like to say that we will always honor the memory of Babur, a statesman, a writer who made a huge contribution to the development of Indian society and culture, the owner of a huge heart, who still contributes to the rapprochement of our countries with his legacy.

We must strive for the continuity of these ties and contribute to the strengthening of our cooperation.
