The Ambassador of Uzbekistan has met with the Premier of Sarawak, in Malaysia.

The parties discussed issues of further development of mutually beneficial cooperation in the trade and economic sphere, as well as in investment, education and tourism between the state of Sarawak and Uzbekistan.

Premier of Sarawak Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg expressed his readiness to establish mutually beneficial cooperation with the Uzbek side and exchange experience in the development of the industrial sector of the economy and tourism. It was noted that the first practical step in this direction could be the establishment of interuniversity cooperation.

The sides exchanged views on the possibilities of establishing twinning ties with the Republic of Karakalpakstan (the city of Nukus) and the Malaysian state (the city of Kuching) based on the existing strong friendly relations between the countries and many similar aspects.
