Makhtumkuli's creativity embodies Uzbek and Turkmen peoples’ friendship

The Committee on Interethnic Relations and Friendly Ties with Foreign Countries under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Republican Turkmen Cultural Center and the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Uzbekistan hosted an event “Creativity of Makhtumkuli – a symbol of friendship between the Uzbek and Turkmen peoples”, timed to the great poet’s birthday.

It was attended by responsible employees of the committee, representatives of the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Uzbekistan, activists of the Republican Turkmen Cultural Center, members of Uzbekistan Writers' Union and journalists.

The Republican Turkmen Cultural Center organized an exhibition of books by Makhtumkuli and a demonstration of Turkmen national dishes.

The event is aimed at strengthening cooperation between the two countries based on good neighborliness, preserving the history, culture, spiritual values, national traditions and customs of fraternal peoples through the development of cultural and educational ties. Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan peoples have lived in friendship and harmony for centuries, enriching and developing their culture, traditions and language.

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Turkmenistan to Uzbekistan Yazguly Mammedov thanked the leadership of the Committee on Interethnic Relations and Friendly Ties with Foreign Countries for practical assistance to the national cultural centers of the country and spoke about the poetry of Makhtumkuli and its role.
