European/CIS Regional Ministerial Conference on Green Economy kicks off in Tashkent.

The forum will promote successful, evidence-based solutions for a green economy that meet the needs of countries in the region to implement the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

The Regional Ministerial Conference on Green Economy of the current year is organized by the government of Uzbekistan, the World Green Economy Organization together with a number of organizations. It is attended by government officials, representatives of international organizations, funds, private sector, as well as representatives of civil society from all continents.

Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Minister of Finance Jamshid Kuchkarov noted that the objectives of this event fully coincide with main objectives of the World Green Economy Organization. In addition, Uzbekistan is very interested in implementation of projects in this direction.

Active practical actions of Uzbekistan on joining the activities of the World Green Economy Organization and other relevant international organizations were highlighted at the conference. In particular, Action Strategy for five priority areas of development of the Republic of Uzbekistan in 2017-2021 focuses on environmental issues, environmental protection, development of innovative technologies, using renewable energy and others that are ways to move to a green economy.

Panel sessions will be held for three days on various themes, such as dissemination of green innovative technologies, financing sustainable development agenda, solar investment transition to green economy and others. Following the conference, experts of the World Green Economy Organization will organize trainings by scaling transition to a green economy towards implementation of sustainable development agenda.
