Magdalena Pernet: The adaptation of the Constitution to the new face of the country will facilitate and accelerate the next steps of the state’s development.
20:21 / 2023-05-01

The referendum was successful in Uzbekistan. This was recognized by international observers and journalists from foreign countries who observed the referendum process and covered it in the media.

Polish journalist Magdalena Pernet shared her opinion on the referendum process:

– The amendment of the constitution is undoubtedly a historic moment for Uzbekistan, especially because the basic law will be modified by more than 60 percent.

Among the observers who have been invited to observe the vote are people from almost all over the world, including many journalists.

As one of the invited people, I must first emphasize that the referendum is a huge undertaking, which the organizers managed to prepare transparently for citizens.

For 45 days before the referendum, Uzbeks were informed that the vote would take place on April 30th. The information appeared in the media, on social media, and announcements appeared also on the streets.

During the few days I spent in Uzbekistan before the referendum, I did not meet a single person who did not know about the vote.

The voting itself was planned so that everyone could take part in it, including citizens in hospitals, but also, of course, those abroad.

During conversations with the citizens of Uzbekistan, I noticed that they all emphasize that the change of the constitution is important for them, because it will confirm all the social, political, economic, legal, etc. changes that have taken place in the country in recent years. Also according to the assumption, the adaptation of the constitution to the new face of the country will facilitate and accelerate the next steps of the state's development.

On the other hand, Uzbekistan itself, in my opinion, is a modern, fast-growing country whose people are very ambitious. Young people want to study, go abroad to study, explore the world, gain knowledge and develop their country.

In my opinion, but also in the opinion of other observers from Poland, the Uzbekistan people are very friendly to Poles. Thank you very much for the warm welcome in your country!
