Louvre Museum to present a “Road to Samarkand”

A book entitled “Uzbekistan. Road to Samarkand” has been published on the eve of the exhibition “Civilizations and Cultures on the Silk Road”, which will be held at the Louvre Museum (Paris) from October 21, 2021 to February 7, 2022.

A book entitled “Uzbekistan. Road to Samarkand” has been published on the eve of the exhibition “Civilizations and Cultures on the Silk Road”, which will be held at the Louvre Museum (Paris) from October 21, 2021 to February 7, 2022. This book is a joint project of Assouline Publishing (New York) and Foundation for Development of Culture and Art under the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

The publisher Yaffa Assouline and world-famous photographer Laziz Hamani are the authors of the book.

Exposition of the exhibition in Louvre will have a sequence – visitors of the museum will be able to see the culture of different regions and periods of Uzbekistan’s history. Photographer Laziz Hamani spent more than 50 shooting days in Uzbekistan. Presentation of this book will take place in March 2020 in Assouline Publishing stores in 20 countries. In April 2020, a presentation of the book is planned in Tashkent with participation of Yaffa Assouline and Laziz Hamani.

It is known that the Art and Culture Development Foundation under the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Uzbekistan regularly organizes events in modern and traditional art, literature, theater, music and choreography. The Foundation is engaged in expanding international cultural ties, developing patronage in the country, as well as promoting the culture of Uzbekistan on the world stage.

Reconstruction of the State Museum of Art of Uzbekistan, Samarkand Half Marathon, opening of the Center for Contemporary Art in Tashkent, the exhibition “Civilizations and Cultures on the Silk road” in Louvre Museum are major projects of this Foundation.
