12:07 / 2025-10-07

The delegation from Uzbekistan visited the Republic of Lithuania to study the best practices of organizing the state and municipal administration systems in European countries.  The visit was organized with the financial support of the OSCE Project Co-ordinator in Uzbekistan.

The Uzbekistan delegation members, consisting of representatives of the Development Strategy Center, deputies of the Councils of People’s Deputies of Fergana region and the city of Tashkent, held meetings with the leadership of the Department of Public Administration and Local Government under the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Lithuania, the Lithuanian Parliament, and the administration of the Zarasai district.

Issues related to developing legislative documents in public administration, administrative regulations, as well as improving the internal management system in government agencies, were discussed during the meetings.

Representatives of the delegation studied the experience of the European Union member states used in Lithuania, as well as methods of adapting successful models to national conditions.

Practical aspects of the local government system were discussed at a meeting in the Lithuanian Parliament, the Seimas.

The Lithuanian Parliament’s experience in supporting local councils’ activities on a legislative basis and ensuring accountability in the public administration system was considered in detail.

The knowledge and experience gained during the trip will become essential for strengthening interdepartmental cooperation in Uzbekistan and coordinating the work of central and local authorities.
