Tashkent hosted the 16th International Festival of Turkic Poetry, organized in cooperation with the Union of Writers of Uzbekistan, TURKSOY, and TIKA. Writers from several Turkic-speaking countries participated in it.
The Chairman of the Union of Writers of Uzbekistan, People’s Poet S. Sayyid noted that the attention paid in recent years to developing national literature opens the door to fantastic opportunities for further enhancing international cooperation.

The writers and poets of Uzbekistan, together with the TURKSOY, successfully present new publications, thematic festivals, book exhibitions, literary meetings, and international conferences. The works of several Uzbek poets are actively translated into Turkish and other related languages. Undoubtedly, all this will open new horizons for the development of literary processes.

Some poets and writers were awarded at the event. A poetry competition, “Alisher Navoi and the Poetry of the 21st Century”, a roundtable discussion, “The Future of Poetry and Artificial Intelligence”, and literary meetings dedicated to the memory of the Turkish poet and writer Mehmet Doğan, the Kyrgyz poet Alykul Osmonov, and the Kazakh poet Abay, and a book presentation were held. The participants noted the publication of the magnificent hundred-volume “Pearls of Turkic Literature” on the initiative of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

During the festival, the Union of Writers of Uzbekistan and the Turkish Writers’ Union signed a Memorandum of Cooperation.
