Leading think tanks of Uzbekistan and Japan discussed issues of strengthening bilateral cooperation

The University of Tsukuba hosted an international roundtable discussion on “Joint promotion of knowledge and innovation within the framework of the dialogue “Central Asia plus Japan”.

The leadership and representatives of expert-analytical and scientific-academic institutes of Japan and Uzbekistan attended the event.

Leaders and experts from the University of Tsukuba, the Nippon Foundation, and the Institute of Humanities and Social Sciences represented the Japanese side.

The Uzbek side was represented by leaders and representatives of the Administration of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Institute for Strategic and Regional Studies under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan (ISRS), the Information and Analytical Center for International Relations, the Institute of Macroeconomic and Regional Studies, the Center for Economic Research and Reforms, the International Institute for Central Asia, the University of World Economy and Diplomacy.

During the negotiations, the participants discussed the current state and prospects for the development of bilateral cooperation in education, science, and innovation. Particular attention was paid to further intensifying interaction between the two countries’ scientific and research communities.

Speaking at the event, ISRS Deputy Director B. Mustafayev noted the importance of creating the Uzbekistan – Japan Expert Council and conducting joint research on priority issues of mutual interest.
