Methodical days for teachers have been canceled, what was the main reason for the cancellation?
The Head of the Information Service of the Ministry of Public Education Laylo Rustamova noted that for a long time methodical days were held to improve the professionalism of teachers, their constant work on themselves, enriching their knowledge. Unfortunately, in practice, these days have led to the appearance of excessive documentation and bureaucracy. Some teachers perceived such days as additional days off.
“Over 61 percent of teachers who participated in the survey of the Ministry of Education noted that instead of methodical days, it is advisable to allocate fixed hours, and in their spare time to conduct advanced training classes in schools”, says L. Rustamova. “According to the previous order, Monday was a methodical day in mathematics and computer science. On this day no school held lessons in these subjects. These hours were included on other days, which led to excessive fatigue in schoolchildren at the end of the week. The cancellation of the methodical day will prevent teachers from spending precious time attending these classes and traveling long distances to improve their skills. Now conditions will be created for their independent professional development, work on themselves. At the same time, teachers are required to improve their skills through created online platforms. Also, the new order will create even more opportunities for students to study subjects such as chemistry, geography, physics, algebra, native language, and foreign languages.
After the introduction of this procedure, some teachers asked to switch to a six-day training regime for primary classes. While the educational process continues as before, no changes have been made to it. It is recommended that on Saturday primary school teachers of secondary schools provide a methodical process and deal with the tasks defined in the job description of each teacher by the annual plan within the framework of the procedure in force to date.
