“Kutadgu Bilig” – The Great Monument of Ancient Writing

An International Conference “Kutadgu Bilig and Topical Problems of its Study” dedicated to the 950th anniversary of the ancient and priceless masterpiece of oriental literature – the “Kutadgu Bilig” has been held online at Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies.

The international conference was attended by over 50 speakers from 36 higher education institutions of Russia, Turkey, Hungary, Kyrgyzstan, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, India, Uzbekistan, USA, Egypt and Iran.

At the conference, it was noted that “Kutadgu Bilig” (Knowledge leading to happiness) is an invaluable monument of ancient Turkic written literature, is a unique work that summarizes the views and reflections on a perfect person, the system of state and public administration, the meaning of obtaining knowledge, issues of morality and culture, philosophical concepts, observation regarding the upbringing of children, behavior, manners and qualities of a person.

Participants of the conference expressed their views on the world significance of “Kutadgu Bilig”, textual research of its manuscripts, poetics, peculiarities of the language and style of the work, the heritage of Yusuf Khass Hajib, issues of development of Eastern civilization, education of a new generation of specialists in the study of the classical heritage, as well as the current challenges facing world oriental studies.
