A team from King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSrelief), headed by KSrelief’s Assistant Supervisor General for Planning and Development, Dr. Aqeel Al Ghamdi, recently made an inspection visit to Cox’s Bazar district in the People’s Republic of Bangladesh.

The team went to the Ukhiya Specialized Hospital and Sadar District Hospital and toured departments in the two health facilities; they also reviewed the vital support to Bangladesh being provided by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, through KSrelief, which includes medical supplies and equipment. The review emphasized the continuation of KSrelief’s partnership with the hospitals to provide comprehensive ongoing patient treatment. 

The KSrelief team also made an inspection visit to its housing units project in the Rohingya refugee camps at Cox’s Bazar. Dr. Al Ghamdi explained that the center implemented a shelter project consisting of 410 housing units to support the Rohingya refugees affected by the fire that broke out in the camps, adding that 300 units have already been handed over, with the remaining units to be delivered in the coming days. 

In 2022, KSrelief delivered 500 housing units to Rohingya refugees in Cox’s Bazar, benefiting 590 families (3,000 individuals). The Kingdom has provided support through more than 43 projects for Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh and other countries. These projects, which were implemented at a total cost of USD 186 million, included activities in the emergency relief response, education, shelter and health sectors.
