KOICA supports Uzbekistan in vocational training

The Vocational Training Center in Uzbekistan’s Shakhrisabz city (Kashkadarya region) is achieving positive results in cooperation with Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA).

In September 2018, the center began training in “Electrician and Electronics”, “Metalworking and Welding” and “Sewing Process Technology”. Until January 2019, vocational training of students has begun in “Information Technology” and “Spinning Production Technology”.

“Our training center is equipped with all necessary training and laboratory equipment provided by KOICA”, says the head of the center Fazliddin Rajabov. – Almost all the teachers of the center have passed advanced training courses in the Republic of Korea. We pay special attention to the employment of students graduating from the center. Cooperation agreements have been signed with many industrial and manufacturing enterprises.

Pedagogical workshops and training, master classes with the participation of Korean professors and experts, open classes of teachers working in the training center were organized to increase the pedagogical potential of teachers.

Teachers and students of the center, along with professional training, are actively involved in competitions throughout the country. On 24-25 February 2019, KOICA organized the Republican competition “Professional Skills” in Samarkand among students of the country’s Vocational Training Centers.

Korean volunteers are also involved in the vocational training process. They also play an important role in helping students learn the secrets of the profession based on international standards. Each student is awarded a scholarship equal to the minimum monthly wage. There is also a dormitory with all facilities.

In 2018-2020, 901 unemployed citizens graduated from the training center in 5 areas, 85.7 percent of them are employed. Currently, 223 unemployed people are studying at the training center.
