KOICA hosts a competition among students
Samarkand Vocational Training Center hosted a competition among students of vocational training centers organized by Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA).
Samarkand Vocational Training Center hosted a competition among students of vocational training centers organized by Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA).
At the competition organized for the first time, students of vocational training centers of Tashkent, Shakhrisabz and Samarkand competed in such areas as car repair and maintenance, electrical engineering and instrument-making, a welding technician (mechanic) and information technologies.
According to the results of the competition Samarkand representatives won first places in all directions. Young people from Shakhrisabz Vocational Training Center won the second place, students from Tashkent received the third.
A Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Ministry of Employment and Labor Relations of the Republic of Uzbekistan, KOICA and Keimyung University of South Korea. In accordance with it, KOICA Public-Private Partnership Project – “Improving the skills of workers and providing employment in Samarkand region by strengthening the educational potential of Samarkand Vocational Training Center” will be implemented in 2019-2022.
For this project, KOICA allocates a grant in the amount of 900 thousand USD, Keimyung University – 300 thousand USD. At the expense of these funds, Samarkand Vocational Training Center will create such areas as engineering technology, computer design, as well as Samarkand business incubator, which together with Samarkand city council of Uzbekistan Youth Union will train youth in business and entrepreneurship.
