Tashkent hosted an award ceremony for the winners of the 2022 scholarship of the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA).
The event was attended by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Korea to Uzbekistan Kim Hee-sang, Director of KOICA Uzbekistan Ms. Park Sunjin, Deputy Director of the Department for Strategic Cooperation with the Republic of Korea of the Ministry of Investments and Foreign Trade Ruhillo Zikrillayev, graduates and scholarship winners. At the event, information was provided about the activities of KOICA in Uzbekistan, as well as the selection process of the scholarship program. This year’s results were announced.
This year, 28 civil servants out of 166 candidates from Uzbekistan were selected to study at prestigious higher education institutions of the Republic of Korea at the master’s level, and 1 person was selected for the doctoral level. The number of scholarship holders reached the highest level in 2022. Compared to 12 people in 2021, it increased 2.5 times.
The winners of the competition will now study in Korea in areas such as public administration, energy policy, gender equality, digital innovation, finance and tax policy, e-government, education and health policy.
Ambassador Kim Hee-sang congratulated the scholars on this great achievement and wished them success in their future studies and work. Ruhillo Zikrillayev shared his experience as a graduate of the KOICA Scholarship Program. He expressed his hope that talented young people would take this opportunity and return as good specialists in their field in the future. Graduates who returned from Korea through this educational program shared their experiences with the new students and told about the education system and lifestyle in Korea.
The selection stage of the KOICA Scholarship Program begins every year in February-March. Employees of all state organizations, school teachers, bank employees nominated by the government can apply for the competition. All tuition-related costs are covered by KOICA.
