KOICA and UWED launch a new project in higher education

The Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) and the University of World Economy and Diplomacy (UWED) signed a Protocol of discussions on the Project for Enhancement of the Online Education System and the Creation of a Cyber University at UWED.

The UWED leadership, led by the First Deputy Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis, UWED Rector Sodiq Safoyev, and from the Korean side - KOICA Vice President Hong Seok Hwa, Director of the KOICA Uzbekistan Office Shin Myung Seop, and other high-ranking representatives attended the signing ceremony.

The new project aims at strengthening the digital infrastructure of higher education in Uzbekistan by supporting the creation of an integrated e-learning system in the UWED.

With a total budget of $6.9 million, the initiative covers the development of an e-learning master plan, the establishment of academic and operational regulations, the creation of content for three departments, the training of faculty professors, the development of a platform, the provision of IT equipment and the modernization of digital educational facilities.

The project is part of KOICA’s broader strategy to promote smart education and sustainable development within the Korean initiative “K-Silk Road for Central Asia”.

Such projects will contribute to the development of relations between the two countries. They will further strengthen the determination of both sides to create a modern and high-quality education system.
