Uzbekistan’s wrestlers won their first medals at the U17 World Wrestling Championships, held in Jordan.
Khusniddin Abdukarimov, in the weight category up to 48 kilograms, won the silver medal at the World Championships, defeating Martin Manukyan from Armenia, neutral wrestler Nikolay Kristov, and Laszlo Szuromi from Hungary in the final.
Another of our compatriots, Sardor Kholmurzayev, in the weight category of up to 55 kilograms, defeated Hungarian Peter Zhitovoz in the fight for bronze.
Today, Umidjon Karomov in the weight category up to 45 kilograms and Bekhruzbek Valiyev in the weight category up to 71 kilograms will compete for the bronze medal in Greco-Roman wrestling.
Farrukh Yuldashev and the representative of the championship hosts Ali Ashraf Abunaseer will measure their strength in the qualifying competition for bronze in the category up to 60 kilograms, and in the weight category up to 92 kilograms, Fakhrikamol Komiljonov and Croatian Patrik Budor will step into the ring.
