There is a place of worship of Khoja Alouddin Attor in “Namozgoh” mahalla of Surkhandarya region’s Denau district.
Khoja Alouddin Attor (real name – Muhammad ibn Muhammad Khorazmiy) – one of the best disciples of Bahouddin Naqshband, who was his son-in-law, was a Sufi scholar, known in the spiritual life not only of Surkhandarya, but of the whole of Mawarannahr. He was born in Khorezm in the family of a grocer.
Alouddin Attor studied at Bukhara madrasah, in the 90s of the XIV century he moved to Denau and propagandized the Naqshbandiya doctrine there. According to legend, seven years before his death, he made a trip to Bukhara, which lasted for 18 days, to visit the grave of Bahouddin Naqshband. At the beginning of the month of Shawwal (the tenth month of the Muslim lunar year), he returned home.
As Muhammad ibn Tohir Khorezmi noted, in the first days of the month of Rajab (the seventh month of the Muslim lunar year) of 802/1399, Alouddin Attor became seriously ill and died on the twentieth day of this month after evening prayer. The cemetery where Alouddin Attor was buried is called “Shaikh Attor Valiy” or “Ostona Buva”.
The burial place of Alouddin Attor in the XV century was intended only for the reassurance of religious figures, their sons and grandchildren. Later this place was transformed into a place of worship.
In 2019-2020, a new luxurious mausoleum was erected by local entrepreneurs on the site of the old mausoleum. The burial was moved to the basement of the tomb, and a symbolic plate was installed above it. The mausoleum was decorated with beautiful ganch carvings. The territory was landscaped and conditions were created for visitors.
