The International Organization of Turkic Culture, TURKSOY, annually implements the project “The Cultural Capital of the Turkic World”.

Famous historical cities of the member countries of this organization participate in the project. It has become a tradition to hold photo exhibitions about the art and culture of the member countries of the organization.

In 2020-2021, this status was assigned to Khiva. Within the framework of the International Cultural Forum “Central Asia at the crossroads of world civilizations” taking place in Khiva, a photo exhibition of fine and applied arts was opened.
