Kate Fearon: Dialogue and trust – a path to ensuring security and stability in any region
12:36 / 2025-10-16

The First Fergana Peace Forum marked the launch of a new regional platform for dialogue, trust, and cooperation among the countries of Central Asia.

Speaking at the event, Kate Fearon, Director of the OSCE Conflict Prevention Centre, stated that Central Asia, in an era of global instability, has the capacity to unite for the sake of shared prosperity, address pressing challenges, and transform threats into opportunities.

In this context, the OSCE representative emphasized that Fergana Valley is becoming a region where trust and good-neighborly relations serve as an inspiring example of what can be achieved through diplomacy and peaceful resolution. The settlement of border issues has created opportunities for strengthening trade and economic ties, expanding transport connectivity, and establishing an effective system of water resource management.

This once again confirms that dialogue and trust are key to ensuring security and stability in any region.

The forum was organized by the Institute for Strategic and Regional Studies under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan (ISRS), the United Nations Regional Centre for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia (UNRCCA), the OSCE, the European Union, and several other international and national partners.

The event was attended by experts from leading think tanks across the CIS, Asia, Europe, and the Americas, as well as representatives of civil society, business, academia, and youth organizations from the countries of Central Asia.
