Judo: Uzbekistan is in the top three

Athletes of Uzbekistan are worthily defending the honor of the country at the Abu Dhabi Grand Slam 2023.

450 judokas from 77 countries are participating in the tournament.

Yesterday, Uzbekistan’s judoka Shakhram Akhadov, who competed in the weight category up to 73 kg, defeated the European champion, winner of the Grand Slam Akil Gjakova from Kosovo, in the final match.

Today, championships will be held in the weight categories of 90, 100, and +100 kg among men and 78 and +78 kg among women. Members of Uzbekistan team Otabek Turaboyev (100 kg), Shohrukhkhon Bakhtiyorov and Utkirbek Turaboyev (+100 kg), Iriskhon Kurbonboyeva (78 kg) and Rinata Ilmatova (+78 kg) will take part in them.

So far, the Canadian team is leading the tournament – the athletes have two gold and a silver medals. The Italian team is in second place with two gold medals. And the third place is taken by the Uzbekistan team. Uzbekistan’s athletes have one gold and one silver medal. The teams of France and Georgia take the following places. Both teams have a gold medal.
