The IX “Joys of Tashkent” International Biennale of Children’s Pictures has kicked off at the Ikuo Hirayama International Caravanserai of Culture of the Academy of Arts of Uzbekistan.

At the opening ceremony, the Chairman of the Academy of Arts of Uzbekistan, People’s Artist Akmal Nuriddinov, noted that the scale of projects in children’s creativity is expanding in the country.

This year, young artists from almost 15 foreign countries, such as Italy, Belarus, Russia, Thailand, France, Azerbaijan, India, Malaysia, are taking part in the Biennale. A large number of children’s drawings were sent from neighboring countries – Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan. In total, the exhibition presents about 2,500 creative works. Almost 2000 of them are creative works of children from Uzbekistan.

The Biennale will run until 23 December. The Grand Prix will be awarded for the best work of one of the participants. 7 gold, 7 silver and 7 bronze medals and commemorative certificates will also be awarded.
