The Center for Retraining Journalists of Uzbekistan, with the support of the British Embassy in Uzbekistan, implemented “The role of the mass media in the fight against corruption” project.

The Center for Retraining Journalists of Uzbekistan, with the support of the British Embassy in Uzbekistan, implemented “The role of the mass media in the fight against corruption” project.

– Trainings aimed at increasing the awareness of journalists and representatives of civil society institutions in combating corruption issues were held in the Republic of Karakalpakstan, Bukhara, Jizzakh, Samarkand, Fergana, Khorezm, Kashkadarya, Andijan regions and in the city of Tashkent, – says Director of the Center for Retraining Journalists of Uzbekistan Gulnara Babajanova. – Platforms are created for open discussion of work plans within the framework of social partnership, coverage of this issue in the mass media.

Knowledge and skills of students on working with information sources and their verification for excluding cases of giving false information have been improved at trainings. Information was provided on legal and institutional measures in Uzbekistan on combating corruption. Explanations about the norms of the Law “On combating corruption” were given.

“The role of the mass media in the fight against corruption” handbook has been published for journalists, media professionals and students. It contains information about international and national legislation in the field of combating corruption, ethical standards that journalists should adhere to when covering this issue.

A contest of the best materials on the fight against corruption was held for participants of the project. Winners were encouraged at the final training held in the city of Tashkent.
