Chairman of the Jokargy Kenes of the Republic of Karakalpakstan M.Yerniyazov met with Ambassador Jian Yang. At the meeting, the guest was informed about the nature, geographical location of the region, culture of Karakalpak people, national traditions and structure of administrative management. It was noted that relations between Uzbekistan and China are rapidly developing at a new, higher level in all spheres.

The drying up of the Aral Sea has become a pressing problem not only for this region, but also for the entire world community. A number of projects are being implemented to eliminate environmental problems in the region and improve people’s well-being. The guest was introduced with some projects.

The Ambassador also visited the UNDP Office in Karakalpakstan, got acquainted with activity carried out within the framework of “Strengthening the potential of life stability of the population affected by the Aral Sea crisis, through creation of a Multi-Partner Human Security Trust Fund for the Aral Sea region” project. This project is aimed at providing employment and improving living conditions of population of Shumanay, Muynak and Takhtakupir districts of Karakalpakstan.

The guest visited Amudarya district, got acquainted with activity carried out within the framework of the project on “Purchasing equipment for cleaning Amudarya and canals in order to increase the level of water supply to the territories included in the project”.
