The Embassy of Uzbekistan in Beijing organized a roundtable discussion to attract advanced scientific and technological solutions from China to combat soil salinization in the Aral Sea region.

The event was attended by leaders and scientists from the Beijing Forestry University, the Chinese Academy of Forestry and the State Forestry and Grassland Administration of China, as well as representatives of the Ministry of Innovative Development and the State Forestry Committee of Uzbekistan.

The parties exchanged views on cooperation in combating desertification and soil salinization, and joint implementation of environmental projects in the Aral Sea region.

The Chinese side presented modern methods for the restoration of highly saline soils on desert lands in certain regions of China.

Following the event, the parties agreed to adopt an interactive program for the joint implementation of specific projects by using alternative methods of introducing agriculture to saline soils of the Aral Sea region, conducting joint scientific research on managing and improving pasture productivity, as well as training Uzbekistan specialists in certain areas of forestry.
