On May 20-25 this year, Jizzakh will host the Asian Belt Wrestling Championships.
The championships of the continent are organized by the United World Wrestling (UWW), the Asian Belt Wrestling Federation, the Ministry of Youth Policy and Sports of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Hokimiyat and the Prosecutor’s Office of Jizzakh region, the Belt Wrestling Federation of Uzbekistan, as well as several other ministries and organizations. Well-known wrestlers from almost 20 countries, including Uzbekistan, India, Iran, Indonesia, Japan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Turkmenistan, are expected to participate in the championships.
At the Asian Championships, which is part of the United World Wrestling series of tournaments, men will compete in the weight categories up to 57, 62, 68, 75, 82, 90, 100 kg, and +100 kg, and women will fight for victory in the weight categories up to 52, 58, 66, 76, +79 kg.
According to the regulations, the Asian Championships will be held in Kazakh Kuresi (the traditional wrestling style of Kazakhstan) and Alysh (the traditional national sport of Kyrgyzstan).
Currently, Jizzakh region is actively preparing for the Asian Championships at a high level.
