Director of the Cultural Heritage Agency under the Ministry of Tourism and Sports of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shakhriyor Nurulloyev met with the First Deputy Director of JICA Representative Office in Uzbekistan Yoshimasa Takemura.
According to the Cultural Heritage Agency, the meeting was organized to ensure the implementation of the instructions determined by the resolution of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On measures to further enhance and strengthen cooperation between the Republic of Uzbekistan and Japan” of December 28, 2019, in particular, to preserve and digitizing the archives of the cultural heritage of the Great Silk Road in the Republic of Uzbekistan and strengthening cooperation between the two countries in preserving cultural heritage.

It should be noted that on 10-30 June 2021, JICA researched at the State Museum of History of Uzbekistan, the Termez Archaeological Museum and archaeological sites near the city of Termez.
Based on the results of the study, on October 29, 2021, the first discussion of the project “Preservation of the cultural heritage of the Silk Road through digital archives” was held at the Cultural Heritage Agency.

At the meeting of the Director of the Agency, Shakhriyor Nurulloyev, with the First Deputy Director of JICA, Yoshimasa Takemura, it was announced that Japan had allocated 55.9 million yen ($490 thousand) for the project.
Following the meeting, the parties agreed to hold a ceremony of signing project documents as part of the events dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Uzbekistan and Japan.
