Javokhir Sindorov achieved a historic result at the Freestyle Chess Grand Slam 2025, in Weissenhaus, Germany.
Uzbekistan’s talented chess player reached the tournament’s semifinals with a prize fund of $750 thousand. He defeated Hikaru Nakamura from the United States.
In the first game of the tie-break, Sindorov defeated his opponent with black pieces. In the second game, he also won the match with white pieces.

Nakamura, who lost to Sindorov, will compete for 5th-8th places with Nodirbek Abdusattorov, Gukesh Dommaraju, and Alireza Firouzja.
Another player from Uzbekistan, Nodirbek Abdusattorov, lost to former world champion Magnus Carlsen from Norway, who reached the semifinals. Fabiano Caruana and Vincent Keymer also advanced to the semifinals.
Javokhir Sindorov will play the first semi-final match against F. Caruana and V. Keymer against M. Carlsen.
