Director of the International Institute for Central Asia (IICA) Javlon Vakhabov held a videoconference with Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) Kubanychbek Omuraliev.
During the significant conversation, the parties highlighted the progressive expansion of OTS’s activities, particularly in trade, transport, energy, and tourism.
Mr. Omuraliev noted Uzbekistan's role in the organization’s development, increasing the intensity of interaction between the member states during the presidency of Uzbekistan. The vital contribution to the deepening of cooperation between the OTS of the implemented initiatives of the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, such as the adoption of the “Program of connectivity of the OTS member countries in transport” and the joint roadmap for its implementation for 2023-2027”, the Joint Roadmap on tourism, the establishment of the platform “Forum of Young Entrepreneurs”, was emphasized.
The OTS Secretary General drew attention to the successful holding of the Third Tashkent International Investment Forum in early May and the address of the President of Uzbekistan at this forum.
“President Mirziyoyev’s address at the International Investment Forum in Tashkent left a lasting impression, particularly its solid results”, Mr. Omuraliev expressed.
Promotion of regional cooperation between Central Asian countries, primarily within the framework of Consultative Meetings of the region's heads of state, and expansion of cooperation with leading countries and associations in the Central Asia Plus format received a high assessment.
During the exchange of views on the interaction of the analytical centers of the OTS countries, the Secretary General stressed the need to strengthen expert support on key priorities for the development of multilateral cooperation.
He welcomed IICA's participation in the Meeting of the Official Foreign Policy Research Centers of the Member and Observer States of the OTS, which is planned to be held on the eve of the Organization’s 11th Summit in Kyrgyzstan.
