Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Uzbekistan, Yoshinori Fujiyama, has visited Fergana TPP JSC.
The Ambassador got acquainted with the project for the implementation of highly efficient cogeneration gas turbine units with a capacity of 17 MW, implemented jointly by Japan and Uzbekistan.
According to the JSC Thermal Power Plants Press Service, Mr. Yoshinori Fujiyama has met with the heads of the Hokimiyat of the city of Fergana and Fergana TPP JSC. The Director of the enterprise Erkinjon Khamidov informed the guests about the activities on the introduction of highly efficient technologies in cooperation with Japan’s NEDO. The Ambassador noted that cooperation in this area will contribute to the development of relations between the two countries and strengthen friendship.

An investment project is being implemented at the enterprise for introducing highly efficient cogeneration gas turbine units at Fergana TPP with a capacity of 17 MW by the Resolution of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan of February 21, 2017, No. RP-2794 “On measures for implementing the project “Introduction of highly efficient cogeneration gas turbine technologies at Fergana TPP and Fergana boiler house RK-3” to gradually introduce modern and efficient technologies for generating electricity, increase the efficiency and rational use of fuel and energy resources, as well as ensure the stable development of the social sphere of the region with the creation of additional jobs.
The implementation of the project will serve to increase the generating capacities in Fergana valley and will allow the enterprise to additionally generate 197.24 million kWh of electric energy annually, as well as 214.5 thousand Gcal of thermal energy.

At the first stage of the project, a 7 MW gas turbine unit was commissioned in December 2019. It is located 17 km from Fergana TPP JSC, next to the RK-3 boiler house.
At the second stage of the project, the construction of a gas turbine unit with a capacity of 17 MW was completed ahead of schedule in December 2020, in Fergana TPP JSC. It is operating at full capacity, delivering thermal energy to the residents and social facilities of the city of Kirguli, as well as transfers electricity to the country’s energy system.
Ambassador Yoshinori Fujiyama got acquainted with the GTU-17 MW facility and the activities of the specialists working there.
