Japanese specialist becomes Uzbek football team coach
Midori Honda became the Head Coach of the Women’s National Football Team of Uzbekistan. The Football Association of Uzbekistan and the Japanese specialist signed a contract until the end of 2023.
According to the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, Midori Honda, born in 1964 in Shizuoka, Japan, played for the Japanese women’s team from 1981 to 1991. She is the bronze medalist of the Asian Games.
She began her coaching career with Okayama in 2001 and worked as an assistant coach for the Japan U-20 women’s team. Then the representatives of Japan took 3rd place at the World Championships. As a coach, she led Nagano Parseyro from 2013 to 2019 and Sidzuoka SSU Asredjina from 2020 to 2021.
Another Japanese specialist, Takaya Tsutsumi, will start working as a goalkeeper coach for Uzbekistan women’s team.
