Japanese Professor, international observer Tetsuji Tanaka visited Termez and met with the Deputy Hokim of Surkhandarya region, Chief of the Regional Department of Tourism and Sports Jurabek Turayev.

The parties discussed issues of the region’s tourism potential, the construction of a Japanese Garden in Termez, the memorial museum of the famous Japanese archaeologist Kyuzo Kato and the installation of a monument to the scientist.

The guest was introduced to the rich tourism and investment potential of the ancient oasis, historical and archaeological monuments, the Japanese Garden project, planned to be created on 5.5 hectares in the center of Termez, and the archaeological research of Kyuzo Kato in this region.

Tetsuji Tanaka was presented a 3D video of the Japanese Garden project. The project aroused great interest in the Japanese guest.

“I visited Uzbekistan to observe the Presidential elections”, said Professor Tetsuji Tanaka. – I came to Termez to get acquainted with Buddhist archaeological sites of the Kushan Empire, erect a statue in memory of Mr. Kyuzo Kato in the Japanese Garden in Termez, study the issues of attracting Japanese scientists to future archaeological excavations in the region. In May next year, the 100th anniversary of the famous archaeologist Kyuzo Kato’s birth, whose monument is being created in the Republic of Tajikistan, will be celebrated. We will take responsibility for installing it in this garden. It will also be advisable if this project is implemented taking into account our ideas.

Following the meeting, the Japanese professor got acquainted with the territory on which the park will be built, made his proposals and recommendations. He visited the Fayoztepa archaeological site in Termez district. He examined the Termez-Khayraton bridge, which connects Uzbekistan with Afghanistan.
