With Japan’s support, 14 regional blood centers across Uzbekistan, as well as three blood transfusion stations at republican clinics, will be equipped with advanced blood storage and transport systems.
The corresponding agreement for the “Economic and Social Development Program”, totaling 360 million yen (over $2.3 million), was signed on December 17, 2025, with the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
The project is being implemented as part of the Japanese Government’s gratuitous assistance and will meet Uzbekistan’s growing need for donated blood and increase the share of drugs produced from it.
This initiative is expected to increase access to safe blood products for Uzbekistan’s population and improve the national healthcare system by leveraging advanced Japanese technologies.
The healthcare and medical sector was identified as a priority area for cooperation during the First “Central Asia – Japan” Summit, held on December 20, 2025, in Tokyo.
The Japanese Government intends to develop this cooperation, thereby improving access to high-quality medical services in Uzbekistan.
