On December 8, Tashkent hosted a roundtable discussion on “Current state and prospects for the development of scientific cooperation between Italy and Central Asia”.
The event was held within the framework of the Second Ministerial Conference “Italy – Central Asia”.
The roundtable discussion was organized by the International Institute for Central Asia of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Centre for Global Europe-Asia Connections named after Marco Polo.
Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Italy Manlio Di Stefano and Director of the International Institute for Central Asia Anvar Nasirov addressed the event.
Presentations were made by experts from Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, Scotland. About 50 experts attended the event.
The event consisted of 5 thematic sessions covering such areas of cooperation as the protection and popularization of cultural heritage, sustainable development, inclusiveness and academic interaction.
The main attention at the event was paid to the consideration of the issues of building up intergovernmental cooperation between the parties, as well as identifying possible vectors for deepening cooperation in the short and medium-term.
The participants of the roundtable discussion expressed confidence that the last event will become a starting point for wider cooperation between Italian and Central Asian scientists and research organizations.
