The Authorized Person of the Oliy Majlis for Human Rights in partnership with the USAID Legal Reform Program in Uzbekistan and the Development Strategy Center held a roundtable discussion to ensure the implementation of the resolutions of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan of March 12, 2021, and the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan of February 15, 2021.

The event is aimed at developing proposals and recommendations with the participation of international and local experts on improving the draft law “On the Authorized Person of the Oliy Majlis for Human Rights (Ombudsman)” at the level of international standards and modern requirements.

As it was noted, Uzbekistan’s membership in the UN Human Rights Council is a sign of the country’s commitment to fulfilling its obligations and protecting human rights on a global scale.

Participants discussed proposals to improve the efficiency of the work of the Authorized Person of the Oliy Majlis for Human Rights (Ombudsman) and improve the legal framework.
