On August 26, 2021, Special Representative of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Afghanistan Ismatulla Irgashev met with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Uzbekistan, Yoshinori Fujiyama, Uzbekistan MFA reports.

The parties discussed the efforts of the two countries to enhance cooperation in the Afghan direction, in particular, interaction in establishing a long-term and sustainable peace in Afghanistan.

Views were also exchanged on the situation in Afghanistan and assistance to the peaceful political process in that country.
