Ismatulla Irgashev meets with India’s Ambassador

On January 8, 2021, Special Representative of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Afghanistan Ismatulla Irgashev met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of India Manish Prabhat, Uzbekistan MFA reports.

The parties noted the successful holding of a virtual summit in December 2020 between the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Prime Minister of the Republic of India Narendra Modi, as well as discussed certain aspects of bilateral cooperation in the Afghan direction.

The Indian side was informed about measures taken by Uzbekistan to promote the launch of a peaceful political process, transport-communication projects being implemented in Afghanistan.

The Indian Ambassador emphasized Uzbekistan's active participation in establishing long-term and sustainable peace in Afghanistan, restoring its socio-economic infrastructure and promoting inclusive inter-Afghan negotiations.

The sides also discussed the prospects for cooperation in the educational sphere between Uzbekistan and India, in particular through the Educational Center for Training Afghan Citizens in Termez.
