The President of the Eurasian Century Institute, Irfan Shahzad, shared his assessment of the constitutional reforms in Uzbekistan with IA Dunyo:
– The current Constitution of Uzbekistan was adopted on December 8, 1992, and over 30 years of independence, the country was able to draw the appropriate conclusions, determine the pros and cons, including in its Constitution.
Irfan Shahzad believes that the decision to carry out constitutional reforms was made for the benefit of further improving the well-being of Uzbekistan people, and will create a solid foundation for further development of the state.
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev captures the problems and threats that have arisen, and also takes into account modern realities both in the country and in the international arena.
ECI President emphasized that the Leader of Uzbekistan, first of all, pays attention to the freedom and dignity of a person, the inviolability of his rights and interests, care for women, families, children, youth and the elderly, increasing the role of the mahalla, improving public administration and others.
At the initiative of the President of Uzbekistan, the process of reforming the Constitution is carried out with the participation of all Uzbeks both in the country and abroad. The slogan “The New Constitution of Uzbekistan is my Constitution” can be called a model of genuine people’s democracy.
